"The IT procurement process is going social," said Christine Dover, Research Director of Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce at IDC. "IT Central Station is a disruptive, innovative platform at the forefront of this new social buying process, based on crowdsourcing, product reviews, and professional social networking."

This is the latest in a series of recent accolades for IT Central Station which includes being named one of the top three highlights for B2B tech social marketing by Forrester Research and being called "The Yelp for CIOs" by the Wall Street Journal.

After careful consideration, the Innovation Showcase Judges, (consisting of MIT faculty, entrepreneurs, and early-stage investors) chose IT Central Station as it

  • Is a start-up with less than $10 million in 2012 revenue
  • Is selling B2B enterprise IT solutions to CIOs or corporate departments
  • Shows innovation as well as potential impact on the top and bottom lines

Since the inception of the Innovation Showcase, several of the Finalists have achieved significant success:

  • Yammer (2010 Finalist) was acquired by Microsoft for $1.2B.
  • CloudSwitch (2010 Finalist) was acquired by Verizon.
  • Rypple (2011 Finalist) was acquired by Salesforce.com.
  • Nimbula (2012 Finalist) was acquired by Oracle.

"We are pleased to award these top ten Innovation Showcase finalists, as their technologies represent cutting edge solutions with strategic value," said David L. Verrill, Executive Director of the MIT Center for Digital Business, and the Co-chair of the Innovation Showcase.  "The Symposium provides these early-stage companies a foundation to demonstrate their solutions that are architecting the future of technology and creates an environment for valuable partnership opportunities."

"We are honored to be recognized as a finalist for MIT Sloan CIO Symposium's Innovation Showcase," said Russell Rothstein, CEO and Co-Founder of IT Central Station. "It is further validation that crowdsourced knowledge is disrupting the way enterprises buy technology."
